The zingers fly when Dean Martin gathers a cavalcade of stars and celebrities to roast Peter Marshall, host of "Hollywood Squares," including Vincent Price, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Rip Taylor, Orson Welles, and Paul Lynde! Plus, the mysterious case of Jimmie Walker.
Michael Landon was re-roasted around 1984 after he'd started HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN. I remember reading that the roasts stopped because there were no more "stars" to roast and they'd had to resort to "second bananas on sitcoms". (It didn't name anyone specific.) Since Michael Landon was big again, he was subject to re-roasting. I remember a bit from NATIONAL ENQUIRER stating that Victor French, Landon's HtH costar, was mad about the quality of the jokes written for him to roast Landon.
ReplyDeleteIf you were wondering, Wally Cox & "Charley Weaver" couldn't appear on Peter Marshall's roast because they'd died a few years before.
